A tidal city after the island crossing

Río Gallegos stands beside a broad tidal estuary where mudflats and channels expand and vanish. Wind, shorebirds and low coastal light make the edge more compelling than the city skyline.

As a port and provincial capital, it also carries histories of sheep wealth, labour and southern administration. Those stories prepare the route for the ranching coast ahead.
