Mendoza sits in dry country but reads first as green: plane trees arch over streets and irrigation channels run beside the pavement. Beyond them, vineyards spread toward the Andes.

The strongest visit is not a succession of labels. One grower, cellar worker or irrigation specialist can connect altitude, water, labour and climate to what reaches the glass.

Mendoza's shade is engineered. Every tree, vineyard and glass of wine begins with water brought carefully through dry country.
