Why this place matters
A valley where colour and human history rise together
The Quebrada de Humahuaca runs north through Jujuy as a narrow human and geological corridor. Sedimentary colour changes around farms, villages, archaeological sites and roads that have linked high country for centuries.
Beyond Purmamarca, Cuesta de Lipán climbs toward Salinas Grandes. Farther north and west, Pozuelos and Cusi Cusi require more distance, higher altitude and better local information.
The quebrada is most powerful when the famous hills stop being scenery and return to a lived corridor of farms, villages, trade and high roads.
