Why this place matters
A waterfall whose shape depends on the river
Moconá Falls run lengthwise along a fault in the Uruguay River, so their visible height changes with water level. At times they rise as a long broken edge; at others the river covers them completely.
The surrounding Misiones forest prevents the day from depending on one hydrological event. Red soil, yerba mate farms, smaller cascades and subtropical life remain.
Moconá teaches the right kind of uncertainty: the falls may rise along the river or disappear beneath it, while the forest remains fully alive.

Never promise the water level
I plan Moconá around the whole Misiones forest. If the river covers the falls, the guide turns toward trails, growers and smaller water rather than manufacturing disappointment.
