Welsh-speaking settlers reached Chubut in 1865 and later established communities in the Andean valleys around Trevelin.
A locally hosted tea gives the history domestic scale through recipes, language and family memory, without presenting the culture as frozen in the nineteenth century.

I would travel south for whales, lenga forests and glaciers calving into blue water. I would turn north for Mendoza's vineyards, the white deserts of the Puna and the roar of Iguazú. Both deserve a journey of their own.
