Chiloé experience

Share a traditional Chiloé curanto

Watch shellfish, meat and native potatoes cook over hot stones beneath nalca leaves, then share the feast with island hosts.

The experience

Join the island meal built under the ground

Curanto combines shellfish, meats, dumplings and Chiloé potatoes in an earth oven sealed with leaves and turf.

The best version is prepared by hosts who explain ingredients, work and the communal tradition around the pit, not merely served from a restaurant pot.

Experience FAQ

Share a traditional Chiloé curanto

Q01Is every curanto cooked underground?

No. Curanto en olla is cooked in a pot; this experience specifically requires the earth-oven form to be confirmed.

Q02Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Some can, but shellfish, meat and shared cooking make severe allergies or strict diets difficult and must be discussed early.

Plan with Alex

Plan a Chiloé curanto

Follow Patagonia toward the ice, or take the northern road from vineyard shade to Iguazú's thunder.

Tell me which landscape you keep returning to, and we will build the right Argentina journey around it.

Portrait of Alex

I would travel south for whales, lenga forests and glaciers calving into blue water. I would turn north for Mendoza's vineyards, the white deserts of the Puna and the roar of Iguazú. Both deserve a journey of their own.
