Coyhaique and Cerro Castillo experience

Ride with an Aysén arriero near Cerro Castillo

Follow old livestock paths on horseback with a local arriero across open valley and forest below the Cerro Castillo massif.

The experience

Meet rural Aysén through practiced horsemanship

Families around Villa Cerro Castillo have moved animals through valleys and mountain passes since before the Carretera Austral connected the region by road.

A locally operated ride focuses on current rural skill and landscape knowledge rather than staging an invented pioneer scene.

Experience FAQ

Ride with an Aysén arriero near Cerro Castillo

Q01Do riders need experience?

Not for every route. The host must match horses, pace and terrain to each rider and offer a substantive alternative for non-riders.

Q02Will we visit a working farm?

Only when a specific family confirms access. A guided local ride does not automatically include private homes or work areas.

Plan with Alex

Plan an Aysén horseback day

Follow Patagonia toward the ice, or take the northern road from vineyard shade to Iguazú's thunder.

Tell me which landscape you keep returning to, and we will build the right Argentina journey around it.

Portrait of Alex

I would travel south for whales, lenga forests and glaciers calving into blue water. I would turn north for Mendoza's vineyards, the white deserts of the Puna and the roar of Iguazú. Both deserve a journey of their own.
