The experience
Piedra Parada is the resistant core of a volcano that erupted roughly 50 million years ago; nearby Buitrera Canyon cuts through the same complex.
The walking route leaves the monolith behind and enters a narrow corridor of towers, caves and changing rock texture.

A short entrance walk and a longer route of roughly ten kilometers are possible; the chosen version depends on conditions and fitness.
The basic route may be independently accessible, but a local guide adds geology, archaeology and safer route judgment.
