At Twyfelfontein, giraffe, rhino and animal tracks have been worked into sandstone darkened by the sun. The engravings seem spare at first. Then a guide begins to point, and the valley fills with movement.
Windhoek speaks in the present tense: woven fiber, carved wood, gallery walls, coffee, music and the shifting calendar of a capital city. Starting here gives the journey its first human encounter before the scale of the land takes over.
