I design journeys to places of power for those who want to travel deeper
Kunene Region travel guide
Palmwag
Palmwag opens into basalt hills, dry riverbeds and immense conservancy country where desert-adapted wildlife moves without a park fence defining the view.
Place overview
Palmwag
Palmwag sits in a Damaraland landscape of basalt ridges and dry watercourses, far from the fixed choreography of a national-park road.
Wildlife days here begin with uncertainty. A guide reads spoor, recent movement and the condition of the land before choosing where to look.
That uncertainty is why I stay: tracking with a conservation guide reveals how animals and communities share this arid country, even when no headline species appears.
The guide stops for a mark in dust almost too faint to see. The empty valley is no longer empty; it has direction, age and consequence.

Read the dry riverbeds
I keep two nights for Palmwag because desert wildlife cannot be summoned. At first light, a conservation guide reads spoor in the dry riverbeds and decides where the day will lead.

I design long Namibia journeys around landscape change, local interpretation and time in the right place.

- 03Human encounter
Listen to conservation on the ground
A local voice connects wildlife movement with the people living across this unfenced land.
