The experience
NamibRand protects a broad transition between red dunes, pale gravel plains and dry river systems beneath the Nubib Mountains.
A naturalist uses tracks, seed pods, burrows and wind marks to make those habitats distinct long before Sossusvlei's monumental dunes appear.

It can be, but the Epic journey uses a guided walk matched to the chosen reserve stay unless a longer trail is deliberately added.
Oryx, springbok and zebra range through the reserve, but the walk succeeds through signs and ecology even without a close sighting.
