The experience

See one country through the hands of its makers

Omba Arts Trust works with hundreds of artisans and artists, most of them women, across nine Namibian regions.

A curator-led visit turns the gallery into a first map of the journey: palm fibre, wool, beads and print reveal where materials and traditions change across the country.

Experience FAQ

Meet Namibia's makers at Omba Gallery

Q01Will we meet an artist?

Only when a maker has agreed to the visit. The gallery and its regional craft network remain worthwhile without a promised personal encounter.

Q02Can we buy work directly?

Yes, subject to current stock; larger or fragile pieces need a realistic plan for carrying or shipping them home.

Plan with Alex

Plan the Omba visit

Cross Deadvlei at dawn, follow desert wildlife tracks near Swakopmund and wait beside an Etosha waterhole as elephants emerge through the dust.

We will begin with your dates, your pace and the image that brought Namibia into your mind. From there, I will draw the journey that belongs to you.

Portrait of Alex

I want Namibia's defining moments at their best: Deadvlei before the heat, the living desert while tracks are still sharp, Etosha as elephants approach the water. Around them, we make time for the guides, makers and conservationists who turn a beautiful road into a journey you understand.
