Quiver Tree Forest and Keetmanshoop experience

Cross Giant's Playground

Walk between stacks of dark dolerite blocks that look deliberately balanced but were separated by deep weathering over millions of years.

The experience

Walk through geology that resembles impossible architecture

At Giant's Playground, rectangular dolerite blocks sit in towers and precarious-looking stacks across the dry plateau.

The formations are natural: cooling fractures and long weathering separated an ancient sill into shapes that resemble walls, rooms and giant-built monuments.

Experience FAQ

Cross Giant's Playground

Q01Is the route marked?

Paths exist, but the rocks can make orientation confusing; we use current site guidance and avoid scrambling beyond ability.

Q02When should we walk?

Morning or late afternoon avoids the strongest heat and gives the dark rock more definition.

Plan with Alex

Plan Giant's Playground

Cross Deadvlei at dawn, follow desert wildlife tracks near Swakopmund and wait beside an Etosha waterhole as elephants emerge through the dust.

We will begin with your dates, your pace and the image that brought Namibia into your mind. From there, I will draw the journey that belongs to you.

Portrait of Alex

I want Namibia's defining moments at their best: Deadvlei before the heat, the living desert while tracks are still sharp, Etosha as elephants approach the water. Around them, we make time for the guides, makers and conservationists who turn a beautiful road into a journey you understand.
