A living island culture in Pärnu Bay
Kihnu's cultural space is not a historic display. UNESCO recognizes living songs, dances, wedding customs and wool handicrafts kept across generations, especially by the island's women.
The island is compact enough for a bicycle. Its official 40-kilometer Travel Wheel links four villages with Kihnu Museum, the church, coastal roads and the cast-iron lighthouse at the southern tip.
I include Kihnu as an overnight between Pärnu and the western islands. Tell me your dates, and I will plan the ferries and island stay as part of your private Estonia journey.
Kihnu is small enough to cross by bicycle, but one ferry back is too soon. I stay overnight for the museum, the southern lighthouse and an evening when the island belongs to its residents again.

Do not reduce Kihnu to a ferry excursion
The point is not to collect three sights and leave. We cross with bicycles, follow the island's circular route and sleep on Kihnu before the road continues toward Saaremaa.

Q01Can Kihnu be visited as a day trip?
It can, but the ferry timetable then controls the day. One overnight leaves time for the 40-kilometer Travel Wheel, museum and lighthouse without turning the island into a race.
