The experience
At Vaemla, island fleece moves through belts, rollers and spinning machinery about 120 years old. The sound and motion reveal every stage between raw wool and yarn, carried out by a family business rather than reconstructed for display.
The factory shows a side of Hiiumaa beyond lighthouses and empty coast: local material, inherited equipment and small-scale production kept viable through practical skill.
