The experience
The Estonian National Museum begins with people rather than a parade of dates. A licensed guide selects objects that reveal how Estonians have lived, worked, spoken and defined home through occupation, independence and rapid modern change.
It is especially valuable midway through the journey. Narva, Peipsi and Setomaa stop feeling like isolated exceptions and become part of a country whose identities have always been more varied than its size suggests.
