Tartu experience
Set type, ink a working press and pull a print by hand at Tartu's letterpress centre, where Estonia's print culture survives as a practiced craft.
The experience
TYPA keeps presses, type and paper-making equipment in use rather than behind glass. You learn how words and images were physically composed, then make a print with the same pressure, ink and judgment the process has always required.
The workshop gives Tartu's intellectual story a material form. Books, newspapers and posters helped ideas travel through Estonia; here, their production becomes something you can hear, touch and do.
