I design journeys to places of power for those who want to travel deeper

Setomaa experience

Make Seto sõir at Värska Farm Museum

Prepare Setomaa's caraway-scented curd cheese inside a complete 1920s Seto farmstead, connecting a regional food to the household and calendar that kept it alive.

The experience

Taste Setomaa from inside the farmstead

Sõir is a Seto curd cheese made rich with butter and eggs and sharpened by caraway. Preparing it at Värska Farm Museum places the recipe inside the enclosed farmyard, smoke sauna, barns and household economy that gave the food its purpose.

The workshop turns regional cuisine into more than a tasting. You see how a dish belongs to land, animals, feast days and the practical knowledge passed through a household.

Experience FAQ

Making Seto sõir

Q01What is sõir?

It is a fresh curd cheese associated with Seto food culture, commonly enriched with butter, eggs and caraway.

Q02Is this a cooking class in a modern kitchen?

No. The workshop belongs to a museum farm complex that also explains the buildings, tools and household life around the food.

Plan with Alex

Put a Seto kitchen into the journey

I design Estonia as a small-country journey: fewer stops, more time in each, and enough slack for weather, ferry timetables, and dinners that run long.

Tell me what draws you — floodwater, islands, winter darkness, food — and when you can travel. I will shape the route around it.

Portrait of Alex

Estonia changes with the calendar: spring water fills Soomaa's forests, midsummer fires burn through the white night and late summer brings Peipsi onions to roadside stalls. I plan around the moment you most want to experience.
